NFCFL #1 - Olympia HS - Msg from League
Hello Everyone!
We are excited to welcome you to our first tournament of the season this Saturday at Olympia HS . As we prepare for that moment we have some quick notes.
Speechwire Student and Judge Accounts
- Please make certain that you have added your students to Speechwire under your "Student Roster" with an email address and that they have confirmed their accounts. Provided the name you enter for their Speechwire account directly matches the name of the entry you made for the tournament the student should be attached to that entry for the tournament (which you'll be able to see next to their name on your roster). THIS IS IMPORTANT as this will be the way students will have their ballots pushed to them directly apart from checking the schematic.
For judges, this is EVEN MORE IMPORTANT as this will be the way in which they must access their e-ballots.
Both judges and students will access information for their rounds at live.speechwire.com. Please make certain that everyone has bookmarked this page and is referring back to it throughout the day.

INSTRUCTIONS FROM Olympia HS
Parking and Drop Off: You may park in the school parking lot on campus. Olympia students will direct competitors, coaches, and judges to the appropriate places when they arrive.
Registration/Judge Lounge: Registration will be in the Media Center starting at 8:30 AM. The Judges/Coaches Lounge will also be here.
New Judge Training will be offered in the Media Center starting at 8am. Please encourage your new judges to attend to ensure the best experience possible for both judges and competitors.
Common Spaces: Students and Observers may go to the cafeteria.
Observers: This tournament has several observers. Judges and competitors, please be aware that this is allowed, and they should be able to watch rounds. HOWEVER, they should wait outside to ask permission before entering.

****NOTES FOR SATURDAY****
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please remember that NO COMPETITORS should enter a classroom until an adult judge is present. Please ensure that you are discussing this expectation with all of your team members and to your judges that if students are found in rooms without chaperones that this should be brought to the attention of Tab Staff immediately. We are very grateful to our host schools and wish to make certain we are showing the utmost respect to the rooms and we also expect to provide adequate supervision for all attendees. Please help us in ensuring this can be achieved.
Further, please do not eat food in classrooms or leave trash, and please leave the desks (especially the teacher's desk) and smart boards alone.
PLEASE ensure that everyone has arrived early enough for you to come in person to register/sign in with the tournament by 9 AM. At registration, you will check in with the Board who will confirm you have all of your entries, collect any checks and extant membership forms/dues or update you on any financial issues, and distribute your meal tickets and other needed information/items to you.
PLEASE NOTE: You will also be required at that time to sign THIS DOCUMENT that says all of your judges have received training in their events and have been given access to the event resources prior to the tournament.
*** REMEMBER - while you may compete on Saturday without having fulfilled your current invoice you will be responsible for this invoice being fulfilled before Wednesday of NFCFL #6 in order to be able to attend.
Make certain to get needed information/meal tickets to your Congress and Extemp competitors quickly as they will be called to go to their appropriate rooms as soon as possible around 9-9:15.
Judges should remain in the Judge Lounge for the most part during the day to ensure that they can be reached if needed and that we can keep the tournament running smoothly.
Judges in the PF and LD pools will also get a short survey when they open their ballots for the first time on live.speechwire.com which will have them answer a set of questions to act as a judge paradigm for themselves to reflect on and for competitors to see. Please let them know when they get their first ballot to open it up and complete it as soon as possible to avoid tournament delays. PLEASE ALSO ensure that LD and PF judges have been briefed on World Schools Debate and Policy Debate (Info Website Below) as they may be called on to judge either.

Please ask your Congress students to continue to check the LIVE DOC for continued updates from Mr. Sprouse.
EXTEMP SPEAKING
Extemp Prep Room 427
WSD
WSD will be using rooms 620, 621, and 622. Two of these rooms will be used for Prop and Opp prep rooms for the Impromptu Question. PLEASE REMEMBER students may only bring a dictionary and an almanac to Impromptu prep.

Please note these times are subject to change depending on delays in either the tournament or a different division. We will send out updates with any major changes.
Please remember that all competitors are expected to participate throughout the tournament. If there is an emergency that will require a competitor to drop please contact Tab as soon as possible. ONCE A COMPETITOR LEAVES THE TOURNAMENT LOCATION THEY MAY NOT RETURN. This is a liability issue.
Awards
PLEASE if you have not done so already go to your team roster on Speechwire and add phonetic pronunciations for each of your competitors so that we can honor their efforts with a smooth award ceremony!
