Lake Mary High School Debate Team
October 31 – November 2, 2025
Friday, October 31 — Departure & First Rounds
8:00 AM | Meet at Starbucks
📍 850 S Sun Dr, Lake Mary, FL 32746
Meet for check-in and coffee.
8:15 AM | Depart for Gainesville
Expect light traffic heading north on I-75.

Check in and distribute room keys. Students may change into debate clothes.
Hotel Rules:
You may only be in the lobby or a room.
NO ONE MAY LEAVE THE HOTEL BUILDING - no going outside
No one is allowed in the pool area — it’ll be too cold anyway.
Keep noise down -- there are other guests trying to sleep
Bring board games if you want. The team usually plays after rounds.
11:30 PM | Lunch at Satchel’s Pizza
📍 1800 NE 23rd Ave, Gainesville
We'll transport everyone there. Meet in lobby by 11am.
1pm Transport kids to the Reitz Union on campus
We'll meet in the food court (3rd floor by the Starbucks -- find a table) and prep for rounds
4:30 PM | Rounds Posted
We'll walk from the Reitz Union to our competition areas.
5:00 PM | First Round Begins
Two rounds tonight, finishing around 10:00 PM.
Dinner: On your own near the tournament site (13th Street area). You'll have time between rounds. Make sure you get something to eat as we'll not have time after everyone is finished with rounds.
Try Chick-fil-A or the legendary Burrito Brothers — yes, the one by the dumpster with Target lawn chairs and surprisingly good tacos.
Rounds Finish around 10pm-ish. We'll meet back at the Reitz Union.
Meet in the lounge area with the comfy chairs by the front entrance (the one facing the greenway where we walk to and from rounds; not the ground floor entrance facing the parking lot).
Call or Text CRISP when your final round is finished -- 407-792-1455. I can walk and pick you up if you are unsure how to get back to the Reitz Union.
Saturday, November 1 — Tournament Day Two
6:30 AM | Meet in Lobby
Yes, it’s early. Bring caffeine and patience.
7:30 AM | Rounds Posted
8:00 AM | Competition Begins
Four rounds scheduled throughout the day.
Expect to finish around 10:30 PM.
Sunday, November 2 — Finals & Departure
Scenario 1:
If no one advances — meet in the lobby by 9:00 AM for checkout and departure.
If leaving earlier, let the group lead know before you go.
Scenario 2:
If competitors or judges advance:
7:30 AM | Rounds Posted
8:00–9:30 AM | Final Round(s)
Departure follows completion of the final round.
Final Reminders
Bring your charger, laptop, and comfortable shoes — heels will wreck your day.
If you need medication, don’t forget it.
Bring food/spending money — $75–$100 is recommended.
Lobby and rooms only. No wandering. No pool.
